Part 1: Previous checking for resetting Hotmail password

• Make sure that Caps Lock is turned off and that your email address is spelled correctly.
• Make sure that you're connected to the Internet and that you have a strong network connection.
• Make sure you are going to the correct website(https://account.live.com/resetpassword.aspx) to reset your password.

Part 2: Reset Hotmail password with the alternative phone number or email

Note: If you forgot your alternative phone number or email, just skip this part and go to Part 3. If you have mistakenly deleted Emails in your hotmail, try to recover the deleted hotmail.

Step 1Go to the Hotmail login portal and click the Sign in button.

Step 2Enter your Hotmail account to the box and click Next.

Step 3Try to enter a wrong password and click the Sign in button, there will be words appear in the log in window. Click "reset it now".

Or you can click Forgot my password instead.

Step 4You will be asked "Why can't you sign in", just select "I forgot my password" and click the Next button.

Step 5Enter your Hotmail account to the box and Click the Next button. And you will be asked to enter the characters you see in this Recover your account window, then click Next.

Step 6Hotmail will ask for another account to get a verification code from them. Select the one you want to get the code.

Step 7Enter the verification code you received to the box in the "Verify your identity" window, then click Next.

Step 8Now you are allowed to reset your password, just enter a new password and click Next. Then you will receive a popup which is written with "Your password was changed".

Now you will be able to access your Hotmail account.

Part 3. Recover Hotmail password without the alternative phone number or email

Step 1Go to account.microsoft.com and sign in using your phone number or email address.

Step 2In the "Enter password" window, just click "I forgot my password".

Step 3You will be asked "Why can't you sign in", just select "I forgot my password" and click Next.

Step 4Enter the verification code you received and click Next.

Step 5As you do not have an alternative phone number and email, you need to select "I don't have any of these" and click the Next button.

Step 6Enter an email address that's different from the one you're trying to recover and click "Next". Then you will receive a verification code in this email.

Step 7Enter the code to box of the popup, and click Verify.

Step 8Answer the questions in the form for verify your identity. The questions will include:

• Your name and birth date, as well as your location.
• Other passwords that you have used for this account.
• If you have used any of the Microsoft products with this account before.
• If you have purchased something from Microsoft before, such as software, a device, or a subscription.

Tips for filling out the form:

• Answer as many questions as you can, and provide as much information as possible.
• Use the information provided when you first created your account or when you last updated it.
• Submit the form on the computer you frequently use.

Step 9After your information has been submitted, you will receive an email stating the success request in 24 hours.
